The truck bellhousings are a dime a dozen.

WebJan 18, 2010 · I've not put a TKO 600 in a 64 but I put one behind my 1957 Fairlane which has a 63 390 engine. The first thing I would tell you is pay the $250.00 for the FE output shaft. That'll save you from having to buy a spacer and having your shifter go farther back. The next thing that I'll tell you is it had to have a new crossmember installed.

The earlier TKO/3550 can be identified easily by the non-rectangular shifter bolt pattern that is shown on the TKO-500 and TKO-600. The tag on the transmission also tells.
